Introduction

These General Games Rules are applicable to Golf Category, Rankings and Match Up games and our Football Score and Result Predictor games. Other games are subject to individual games rules which can be found here. These Games Rules form part of the Service Terms which are available here.

PickGuru provides users with a platform to play pool games across a range of real-life sporting events. These Game Rules explain how users may enter the game, how entrants may score points and what to do if you believe that there has been an error.

Pool games are those that allow for multiple entrants to enter and create a single pot which is then divided between those who perform the best based on the game they enter.

In order to join a league or create and join a mini-league you will need to register for an account.

A commission of 10% is deducted from each entry into leagues. The pot shown on each league and mini-league is the total prize pot distributable to the winners of that league.

Terminology

A league consists of:

Sport specific game rules

1. Golf

There are three types of games for Golf.

1.1. Golf Category Picks

In category picks games, entrants create an entry by selecting players listed in our predefined categories. An entrant must select one golfer from each category to form a valid entry. The number of categories can vary per game.

1.1.1. How Category Pick games work

NB: You can change your entry anytime up until the closing time.

1.1.2. Scoring and how the winner is determined

1.2. Golf Rankings Picks

In Ranking Pick games, users create an entry by selecting players from the entire event roster. Each player has an official ranking based upon the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). To form a valid entry a minimum number of players and a minimum combined rankings total must be achieved. The required number of players per entry and the combined ranking rules may vary per game.

1.2.1. How Ranking Pick games work

NB: You can change your entry anytime up until the closing time.

NB: All unranked golfers will be assigned an unofficial ranking for entry creation purposes. e.g. if the lowest OWGR ranked golfer is 750th, all unranked golfers will be ranked 751st.

1.2.2. Scoring and how the winner is determined

1.3. Golf Match Ups

In Golf Matchups, users makes predictions on whether each matchup will be won by a Golfer or if the Match up will end up in a tie.

1.3.1. How Match Up games work

NB: You can change your entry anytime up until the tee off time of the first Match up

1.3. Scoring and how the winner is determined

1.4. Entry Edits

Golf entries may be edited at any time up to the closing time. Each individual player will become “locked” at this time. Once locked, entrants will not be able to change their selections at any time.

Any player withdrawn prior to the first tee off time can be edited at any time up to the closing time. In the event that an entrant has not edited their withdrawn player, they will automatically have their withdrawn player changed to the most selected player of that category.

1.5. Tournament cancellations and postponements

Event cancellations will result in full refunds to all entrants.

A golf event may enter a suspended state due to weather, darkness, or for some other reason. PickGuru will wait until such time the tournament officials make a ruling on the outcome of the suspension before cancelling and refunding all pool game entries. If it becomes clear that the event will not be completed before the tour’s next scheduled tournament, PickGuru will cancel and refund all pool game entries.

1.6. Sudden Death

Golf tournaments may result in a tie between two or more golfers. In this scenario, the golfers take part in a sudden-death playoff until one golfer wins.

The official scoring will still assign all tied players the same 1st position but for PickGuru scoring purposes, PickGuru will adjust all losing golfers to 2nd place. e.g. Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa tied The Memorial Tournament in 2021. Patrick Cantlay then won the 1st hole of the sudden death to win the tournament. In this instance, PickGuru would adjust Collin Morikawa's position to 2nd leaving Patrick Cantlay in 1st.

1.7. Shortened tournaments

If the PGA Tour, European Tour or other federation shortens a tournament for any reason, then the results from the relevant golfing bodies will be used to complete the league.

2. Football

2.1. Football Score Predictor

In score predictor games, users predict the final scores of a number of fixtures by entering the number of goals each team in the event will score. Once the data points have been marked as final they will not be changed. All decisions are final.

2.5. Football League Predictors

In football league predictor games, users predict positions of football clubs in the relevant league e.g Premier League or in the case of football multi-league predictors users predict positions of football clubs across a range of leagues e.g. Top 5 of the Premier League; Top 5 of La Liga.

2.7. Event Cancellation

A football tournament may enter a suspended state due to weather, darkness, or for some other reason. A football pool game will be cancelled if more than 30% of the fixtures in the game are cancelled.

e.g. If a game with 6 fixtures has 2 (33%) or more cancellations the game will be cancelled.

e.g. If a game with 8 fixtures has 3 (37.5%) or more cancellations the game will be cancelled

e.g. If a game with 10 fixtures has 2 cancellations (20%) the game will go ahead without the cancelled fixtures.

e.g. If a game with 10 fixtures has 3 cancellations (30%) the game will go ahead without the cancelled fixtures.

When fixtures are cancelled and the PickGuru game goes ahead, the cancelled fixtures and any predictions made in relation to those fixtures will be excluded from the game.

2.8. Extra Time and Penalties

Football fixtures can go beyond normal time and into extra time and penalties.

All PickGuru football games will be resulted at the end of the match period, including extra time. Penalties will not be included.

e.g. If a Premier League fixture finishes 2-2 after normal time, the the final result would be recorded as a 2-2 as extra time is not played in league competitions.

e.g. If an FA Cup fixture finished 2-2 after normal time then extra time would be played.

If the home team went on to win 3-2 then the final result would be recorded as a 3-2 home win. All extra time goals and player stats would be recorded accordingly.

If neither team scored in extra time then the final result would be recorded as a 2-2 draw. All extra time player stats would be recorded accordingly.

3.  Tennis

In tennis result predictor games, users make predictions on various markets within a game.

3.1. How Tennis Result Predictor games work

3.2. Scoring and how the winner is determined

e.g. If a game with 8 markets has 3 (37.5%) or more cancellations the game will be cancelled.

e.g. If a game with 10 markets has 2 cancellations (20%) the game will go ahead without the cancelled fixtures.

When markets are cancelled and the PickGuru game goes ahead, the cancelled markets and any predictions made in relation to those markets will be excluded from the game.

When a tennis match enters a suspended state due to weather conditions the tennis match may move to the next day. In this case the PickGuru game will stay open until the tennis match has been completed or cancelled.

There are occasions when a player may withdraw prior to the match or during a match, in the event that this happens this market will be voided from the game and our cancellation rules will apply.

4.  Leaderboards

The leaderboards in our games are dynamic and allow users to see the standings of the overall league. The leaderboards will continuously change as the event progresses and are based on the data provided by our data suppliers.

5. Multiple entries

Every entry into a game is given a unique name starting with your username and an incrementing NUMBER as a suffix.

e.g.If your username is jbloggs, your first team will be named jblogg. Your second name will be named jbloggs 1.

6. League entry

The buy-in for the league will not change once the league is created.

Leagues must have a minimum of 2 users. Leagues will either have a capped number of entries or be uncapped and will not change once the league has been created.

For capped leagues, we will accept entries until the maximum has been reached or up until the first tee-off time (for Golf) or up to the first kick-off (for Football).

For uncapped leagues, we will accept entries up until the first tee-off time (for Golf) or up to the first kick-off (for Football).

7. Guaranteed prize pools

PickGuru will create some leagues with a guaranteed prize pool. These leagues will take place regardless of the number of entries in the league.

8. Payouts

Users who finish in the top positions will share the prize pot for that league. The pot distribution can vary depending on the number of entrants into the league. The pot available for distribution is dynamic and will change as users join the league and up until the close of each league. This is shown in ‘Payouts’ within each league. Once the league closes the final payout for each league will be available, clearly shown and will be locked.

Note: Payout tables are subject to change.

8.1. Ties

In the event where multiple users finish a league with an equal amount of points and finish in a place paid by the prize pool, any monies will be equally distributed amongst those users.

In the event where multiple users finish a league with an equal amount of points and finish in a place paid by the prize pool which is a greater number of places paid by the prize pool, then the prize pool will be combined and split equally amongst the users.

If multiple players finish in a positon they will also share the positions beneath them for example, if 3 players finish in first place, the players who finishes next would be in forth place and not second.

9. Scoring and Results

PickGuru’s in-play scoring and results are based on official scoring from official golfing and football governing bodies. We use data from a range of third-party providers including SportRadar and OPTA.

In the unlikely event that there is an appeal by any Golfer or team after the event finishes the initial result declared by the governing body will stand even if the result has been changed

If there are any delays or issues with the results used in the scoring of our games, we will publish and rectify these as soon as possible. PickGuru will not make any judgements on or changes to official scoring.

10. Complaints or disputes

The scoring of these events is driven by third-party data feeds and the results are all readily available in the public domain.

All disputes must follow the following process.
